With an expected footfall of nearly 5 million (50 lakh) pilgrims between December 25 and 27, 2025, the state has transformed the district into a high-security zone managed by advanced technology and a massive manual force.

A Multilayered Security Shield

To ensure the safety of the gathering and maintain the sanctity of the occasion, the Punjab Police have deployed over 3,400 personnel.

• Sector-Wise Management: The entire area has been divided into six security sectors, each overseen by SP-rank officers and 24 DSP-rank officers.

• Technological Vigil: Surveillance is being conducted via 300 CCTV cameras strategically placed at entry points and sensitive locations. Additionally, six high-tech drones are providing real-time aerial monitoring to manage crowd density and identify potential bottlenecks.

• Checkpoints & Nakas: A total of 79 police nakas (barricaded checkpoints) have been erected across district borders and internal routes to monitor anti-social elements and regulate the flow of traffic.

Digital Traffic & Transit Solutions

In a first-of-its-kind initiative for the Shaheedi Sabha, the administration has integrated digital tools to assist the Sangat (devotees).

• Google Maps Integration: Real-time geo-tagging of 22 designated parking areas has been completed. Devotees can access live traffic updates and alternative routes directly through their smartphones to avoid congestion.

• Free Commute: For those arriving at peripheral parking sites, the government has launched a free “Inter-City Shuttle Service” featuring 200 shuttle buses and 100 e-rickshaws to ferry elderly and disabled pilgrims directly to the Gurdwara premises.

• Safety on the Roads: Given the severe fog and cold wave currently gripping Punjab, police are installing reflector stickers on all tractor-trolleys entering the city to prevent accidents during low-visibility hours.

Infrastructure and Healthcare

Understanding the massive scale of the congregation, a temporary city of services has been established:

• Medical Care: An array of 20 Aam Aadmi Clinics and five specialized dispensaries have been set up within the Sabha area. A fleet of 60 ambulances remains on standby for emergencies.

• Connectivity: To prevent network crashes due to high user density, telecom companies have installed temporary mobile towers across the venue.

• Integrated Control Centre: A centralized hub (Helpline: 0176-3232838) has been established to coordinate between police, fire services, and medical teams. Six dedicated Help Desks are also operational to assist in cases of lost children or elderly pilgrims.

Maintaining Sanctity and Cleanliness

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has emphasized that the event is a solemn occasion of “faith over politics.” To honor this, the administration has:

• Deployed specialized sweeping machines and 24/7 volunteer shifts to maintain cleanliness.

• Banned all forms of commercial entertainment, including swings and circuses, to ensure the focus remains on the religious tributes.

• Established 300 mobile toilets and night shelters for devotees traveling from afar.

As the Akhand Path begins at Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup Sahib, the administration has requested all devotees to cooperate with the security personnel to ensure a peaceful and respectful homage to the martyrs.
